If Barack Obama wins the Presidency. Do the people in his cabinet have to be Democrats as well?

Lets say if Senator Obama wanted to retain Secratary Rice as Secratary of defense, could he choose her to continue on in her position throught his Presidency? Likewise, Colud Senator McCain do the same but easier, seeing as he is Republican.
