What is the rule of thumb for drug interactions?

You shouldn't necessarily worry if you're taking 2 (or more) prescription medications at the same time if you are seeing the same physician or getting the Rxs filled at the same pharmacy because any interactions will be spotted by the professionals. However, you should be investigating whether or not you can or should ingest alcohol at the same time as certain medications. Not doing so is a prescription for disaster.
